Breeding Kit for Atta, Acromyrmex, and Leafcutter Ants:
This expandable starter kit, suitable for all types of leafcutter ants, contains, in addition to the perfectly adapted ant house, the appropriate equipment for raising these specific ants. The 20cm cubes allow for comfortable handling during feeding and cleaning. The large connections (27 mm) and tubes not only allow for easy observation of the ants but also enable the animals to transport large pieces of leaves. The stainless steel mesh inserts ensure good ventilation and are resistant to attacks. Even large, aggressive leafcutter ant colonies are unable to attack them. The robust pipe fittings are also completely mandible-proof. The thermometer and hygrometer display is located inside the system, without disturbing the ants, and allows for easy monitoring of climatic conditions. If necessary, humidity can be increased using the spray bottle.
Our advice: start with a small module (a homemade one is fine: a poorly ventilated plastic box, a plaster base, a saucer placed over the mushroom to create a microclimate, and a stable temperature of 22°C). Once the colony is well established, move it to the rearing kit and enjoy some wonderful observations.
Regarding delivery: To prevent breakage, we import the equipment from the manufacturer on pallets and redistribute it to waiting customers, also on pallets. We wait until we have at least two pre-orders before proceeding with import; the lead time is generally one to three months. Important: Upon receipt, check for any damage before signing the delivery note; otherwise, no compensation will be possible from Fourmiculture or the carrier.
The kit consists of a tank for raising the colony with the fungus until it reaches several thousand workers and a significant volume (30x30cm). Humidity must be maintained at its highest level in this tank. There is also a dry tank for waste disposal or to serve as a second mushroom container if a waste bin is provided, and a feeding tank for leaves, which should be of medium moisture content. For easier starting, it is advisable to grow the colony in the provided rearing box before transferring it to the larger kit when the fungus becomes cramped.
LARGE version available as an option with 30cm and 60cm tanks!
