Pack of 10 Micro-Porous PVA Foam for 15-16mm Test Tubes

Description

This flexible and compressible 18mm microporous foam has been tested and validated by Fourmiculture for use in test tubes with a diameter of 15 to 16mm. This diameter was chosen for easy insertion and a secure fit.

Very practical for use in tube breeding, it ensures a healthier environment, saves time in tube preparation, and provides a more aesthetic finish.

Can be used to retain the water supply, or to close the end of the tube.

Instructions for use:

1. Put 9 ml of water in a 16 x 160 mm test tube.
2. Squeeze the foam with your fingers to insert it into the top of the tube. Moisten the foam if it has become hard.
3. Lower it until it touches the water using a rod.
Do not push it in further; the surface facing the ants should ideally remain dry. The moisture circulates through the microporous foam, and the air in the tube is humid. The ants can absorb moisture from the air.
4. Add a second piece of microporous foam to the end of the tube to seal it while still allowing air to pass through. Leave it protruding slightly so you can grasp it with your fingernails if necessary. Or use cotton wool.

Colour: WHITE (subject to stock availability).

Store in a bag to maintain moisture and keep the foam supple. Re-moisten if necessary so that it instantly regains its suppleness.
