Description

Beautiful carnivorous plant terrarium kit with LED lighting, 2 carnivorous plants and moss.

This aesthetically pleasing terrarium kit is easy to assemble at home using the provided components. It allows you to create a closed terrarium ready to admire with minimal maintenance, low evaporation, and greater success compared to growing plants in pots. It is based on a 15cm jar with a cork stopper and integrated LED lighting (batteries included).

You'll find moss balls, a rare variety of Venus flytrap with its traps (Tiger's Tooth, Giant, Dracula, or others depending on availability and inspiration), a carnivorous Drosera capensis (with hairy leaves covered in sticky substance that traps insects to digest), special potting soil for carnivorous plants, and decorative items. Customization of plants and varieties is available upon request.

Caution: water only with rainwater or demineralized (unscented) water.

More details on carnivorous plants:

These fascinating plants live in nutrient-poor environments (peat bogs) and obtain their energy solely from the sun, and sometimes from insects trapped in a lightning-fast snapping trap, as seen in the Venus flytrap (Dionaea), which resembles an ultra-sensitive jaw. In the case of the sundew (Drosera), a sticky, tentacle-like leaf attracts insects and traps them to digest them on the spot. A terrarium allows you to observe these fascinating plants! However, there's no need to intentionally feed them excessive amounts of insects; an occasional meal is quite sufficient. The Venus flytraps can be used approximately three times before dying and being replaced. The plants have a reduced form in winter.

Composition of the terrarium kit:

  • Glass jar – cork stopper with integrated LED light. Diameter: 15cm, Height: 15cm 12.59
  • Main plant: Drosera capensis
  • Secondary plant: Dionaea muscipula
  • Ball of mousse
  • Decoration: white sand
  • Substrate to be laid in the following order: 1 layer of drainage (large pebbles, clay or pozzolana), 1 layer of special carnivorous plant peat (supplied) with a border of sand to be placed between two layers of peat.

Instructions for use:

  • Collect rainwater or buy unscented demineralized water from a drugstore or supermarket.
  • Refine the potting soil by kneading it to break up the clumps. Moisten the potting soil in a basin while mixing.
  • Place a drainage layer at the bottom of the terrarium.
  • Cover with 2/3 of drained and pressed potting soil to remove excess water.
  • Shape the potting soil into a wave, remove any marks from the glass, compact it, and place a few millimeters of white sand around the edge. Cover with a new layer of potting soil.
  • Create a hole. Place the plants as you like, making sure the leaves don't touch the sides.
  • Cover with foam balls.
  • Keep the substrate consistently moist. Place your plants in bright light, but not in direct sunlight (risk of greenhouse effect). A temperature of 20-25°C is ideal.
  • In winter, keep the plants in a cool place, between approximately 5 and 12°C. Partially open the lid to prevent condensation.
