Pack of 10 16x160mm plain glass test glass test tubes for use by ant enthusiasts and labs. Careful packaging, possibility of combining several lots.

As a home for a queen and her first workers, test tubes have been used successfully for decades.

The water supply of the test tubes is limited, as is the space. A test tube cannot therefore replace a real anthill in the long term but will be perfectly adapted to the first months of life of the colony.

It can also be used in the foraging area as a long-lasting source of humidity to allow ants to settle inside during your vacation!

Glass is the ideal material for its clarity in order to easily observe its contents. We do not recommend plastic test tubes (crystal polystyrene) which are more subject to static electricity, less clear for the observations of ants and also subject to breakage. Our glass test tubes are made in France in a rather thin thickness, sufficient for all uses. Lots of thicker 15x150mm test tubes exist, but are more expensive.

How to use the Glass Test Tubes:

Fill the test tube one-third full of water and push in the packed cotton as much as possible until it touches the water. The cotton must remain dry on the ant side. Close the tube with another piece of cotton and replace it horizontally. Tip: replace cotton with PVA foams, which are more practical and more durable.
