Tillandsia brachycaulos var. abdida – 15 to 20cm

Description

A live plant for hunting areas and dry terrariums. Its slow growth, decorative effect, and ability to thrive without soil make it an ideal addition to your ant colony.

Tillandsia, native to Mexico, Venezuela and Panama, which grows in dry forests.

Compact, Tillandsia brachycaulos var. abdida produces numerous leaves 15 to 20 cm long. These take on a remarkable pink hue during flowering!

It gives a very natural and wild effect to the decor of your dry terrarium and hunting area. Its size of 15 to 20cm at the time of sale, however, makes it suitable for larger spaces for a balanced effect.

Information regarding delivery time and origin: 

We source our plants from a greenhouse in Alsace renowned for its Tillandsia and carnivorous plants. Through our partnership, we obtain a selection of the most beautiful Tillandsia varieties, perfectly suited to living with ants. We carefully care for the plants between each delivery and drop off the ordered plants at our logistics center approximately once a week.

The estimated delivery time is usually 48 hours (transport) + 1 week (plant drop-off at the logistics center), sometimes 48 hours (transport) + 2 weeks (restocking at the greenhouse + drop-off at the logistics center). Depending on availability, we may occasionally deliver a slightly different variety. Thank you for your patience in order to receive the most beautiful plants 🙂

Care instructions:

• Watering

Each week, immerse the plant for a few minutes in rainwater or bottled water with low mineral content. Mist or immerse the plant up to twice a day in very dry and hot weather. Drain the plant and protect it from excessively humid air and standing water. Remove any dry or damaged leaves. For optimal growth, it is recommended to add orchid fertilizer diluted to three-quarters strength approximately twice a month.

• Temperature

Prefers temperatures of 10 to 30°C. Can go outdoors in partial shade.

• Brightness

Avoid direct sunlight in summer. Choose a well-lit spot (but be careful not to expose the ants to direct sunlight at the same time).
