Description
Polyrhachis dives is a weaver ant from Southeast Asia, easy to raise and unusual
Discover how to breed them: Polyrhachis is a group of species found mainly in Southeast Asia, but also in Africa. It usually nests in trees and hunts actively.
Polyrhachis dives is polygynous and can therefore potentially have several queens per colony. Our colonies originate from Asia and are easily raised in terrariums. Ideally, a natural biotope should be created, with a certain level of humidity, and materials such as wood and bark, tubes, and other nesting sites should be provided. The worker ants use the silk from the larvae to assemble the materials and form a nest.
Unlike Oeocphylla, it does not build its nests in leaves. It is possible to keep this species in a test tube or a traditional ant farm, but you should expect the glass to eventually become covered in silk.
Its unusual morphology and significant size allow this species to be showcased with an aesthetic and captivating terrarium.
