Description

The 5W heating mat is the easiest way to heat your artificial ant farm. The 5W 14x15cm heating mat from Fourmiculture is sufficient to raise the temperature inside the nest to over 28°C. It's also ideal for heating up to seven 16x160mm test tubes.

A 14x15cm heating mat is suitable for all artificial ant farms thin enough to allow heat to pass through (especially those made of Plexiglas), as well as for test tubes and terrariums, depending on the substrate thickness. We recommend heating the nest from above to avoid condensation. For added benefit, you can consider using an adjustable desk lamp with one of our ceramic bulbs to provide heat without illumination or interference with observation.

If your anthill is larger than 20cm on each side, it's advisable to choose a larger heating mat. However, it's not necessary to heat the entire surface of the habitat, and heating the damp part of the nest will create bothersome condensation.

We do not offer heating mats with integrated thermostats because these do not meet our safety standards. Therefore, please follow the provided instructions to properly manage the temperature in your livestock area.

Cost-effectiveness:
This system is economical because the heat is used very efficiently. For example, a 40-watt desk lamp costs €12 per year in electricity and €8 for a 25-watt bulb, compared to only €1.61 for our mat!

Calculation based on 8 hours of use per day with a cost of €0.11 per kilowatt. Try it out!

Technology :

– Ultra-thin and flexible mat,

– Infrared emitting technology using carbon fibers,

– Durable product that meets CE and RoHS standards (European directive against certain hazardous products),

– Lifespan of 30,000 hours and more!

Instructions for use of the 5W heating mat:

– Place the heating mat over half of the damp area. To block excess heat, it is essential to place about ten sheets of aluminum foil between the heating mat and the ant nest, or use a wedge to allow the heat to escape.

– We recommend monitoring the temperature with our electronic thermometer, or controlling it to the nearest degree using a thermostat.

– Adjust the temperature by managing the distance between the heating mat and the ant farm using shims or by removing or adding insulation.

-If the ants seek shelter away from the heated area, it means the temperature is too high. Add insulation or a spacer. If the ants are going directly under the heating mat, remove a sheet of aluminum foil to check if the optimal temperature is even higher.

Caution: Keep away from flammable materials. Avoid leaving unattended. Do not obstruct heat dissipation and place directly under a terrarium (or use a heat-dissipating mat). Do not puncture, expose to moisture, bend, or cut the mat.

2-year warranty.
