However, among the Camponotus, C. aethiops is reputed to be one of the most tolerant and easy to raise. A little smaller than others, such as C. cruentatus or vagus, it remains gigantic compared to other species and makes observations remarkable. Small at first, increasingly larger workers are born as the colony grows. They reach up to 13mm.

Its development is slower than most species. However, she is easy to feed and loves sweet liquids. She may enjoy other foods such as insects.

Camponotus aethiops is therefore a particular species of ant for its size, affordable in terms of breeding and therefore very pleasant.

Size of the queen: about 13mm
Size of the workers: from 6 to 13mm
Recommended daytime temperature: 28°C with a cooler zone
Recommended nighttime temperature: 22°C
Food: sugary liquids and proteins (sweetened milk), solids, insects …
