France has become the world leader in large-scale edible insect production. As part of "Grenoble, European Green Capital 2022," Fourmiculture has developed an innovative, human-scale breeding module that allows you to produce your own protein source with a low CO2 impact, directly on-site. Ideal for feeding your ants, fish, poultry, etc. Indeed, cockroaches, in particular, are easy to feed with food scraps; they transform low-value food into high-quality protein. Their consumption improves animal growth, and their droppings form a natural fertilizer that stimulates soil biological activity (estimated average productivity increase of +20% for vegetables).

It's possible to set up a colony of cockroaches that multiply by giving birth to fully formed offspring. Raising them is extremely simple, with no egg-laying management required.

Objectives of Fourmiculture when creating this project:

1. Create the only ultra-reliable, simple, efficient, but also enjoyable to watch and educational personal breeding system.
2. Offering a solution for recycling leftover food from a household: cockroaches eat the same things as you (vegetables, meat, fish, etc.).
3. To produce the highest quality protein (richer than mealworms for example) and fertilizer from the excrement.

This module consists of a modular and scalable structure made of indestructible polycarbonate. The module features a wire mesh drawer for collecting waste and a bolted assembly system that allows for easy replacement of parts as needed. For example, the back panel can be replaced with a heating panel if you don't have a heated area available.

The modules can also be mounted in series using a fastening system, thus multiplying your production capacities.

Main advantages:

• Simplicity: Insects are easy to feed with leftover food, fish food, dog food, vegetables, etc. Place on top of cardboard boxes.

• Cleaning: Droppings drawer for easier collection. Can be used as fertilizer after sterilization.
• Collection: The vertical cardboard boxes are held in place by a rod. They are extremely easy to remove for emptying the cockroaches into a collection bin.
• Security: Cockroaches cannot climb the smooth walls and a locked wire mesh secures everything.
• Indestructible structure: aluminum frame with indestructible polycarbonate panels.
• Modular design: each part can be replaced with a newer part for new functionalities. Each module can be connected in series.

Delivery is expected within 3-4 months of ordering.

To be expected:

1. Cockroach colony (supplied by Fourmiculture at a reduced price, easier species to raise)
2. Heating to 28°C by an optional heating panel or Amazon heating lamp, otherwise a warm room is possible.

We'll just need a little patience while we finish production of this new concept. Once delivered, you'll need to assemble the panels with the provided bolts, introduce approximately 1,000 cockroaches (available to order from us at a discounted price), and wait for the first hatchlings. Within a few months, your colony should start producing well, provided the temperature is suitable and the food is regular and sufficiently nutritious.
