The Majora Model 3 Artificial Ant Farm allows you to successfully raise ants from a large colony or to raise a small one to near-maximum size without changing its habitat over the years.
With its unique design, large transparent surface, and integrated features such as temperature measurement, it is ideal for showcasing ants, whether at home or for public display.
Fourmiculture design and quality .
Our goal is to combine the well-being of the ants with the enjoyment of the keeper, because one cannot exist without the other. Therefore, our research has been pushed to the limit regarding the materials used and the technologies employed.
Patented humidification system for perfect conditions.
A key element of a well-designed Artificial Ant Farm, the Majora's humidification system consists of a revolutionary humidifier. We developed it and patented it with the INPI (French National Institute of Industrial Property).
Adjustable to 10 levels, you can modulate the humidity according to the size of the colony and its needs (low for Messor, medium for Lasius). For small colonies, humidifying only one side is sufficient.
Making the ant farm habitable is simple:
1/ Fill one of the provided transparent reservoirs,
2/ Place it under one of the wicks in the ant farm for absorption.
3/ The mineral substrate in the chambers becomes humid in less than 1 hour.
The humidity level is easy to monitor thanks to the dark tint of the wet rooms and the water level in the tanks.
Battery life: 3 weeks or more.
Its style and quality allow it to blend seamlessly into the user's home. Its elongated proportions facilitate observation and placement of the Ant Farm on a piece of furniture, as well as the potential addition of an Observation Area. It is lightweight for its size, durable, and robustly designed. Unconstrained development for a future metropolis.
Visually, the Majora offers an extraordinary spectacle, allowing observation of the ceaseless activity of an ant colony and its queen, regardless of species, ranging from 3 to 16 mm in length. The larger the colony, the greater the activity and the more varied the behaviors. Species like Messor can develop the largest majors ("soldiers"), and most species will be able to create new queens once the population is sufficient.
All the activity of the colony, usually invisible in the underground chambers, is revealed through the perfectly transparent glass and its secret organization takes place freely: food management, egg-laying, brood care… The height of approximately 1cm is suitable for the largest species as well as the smallest.
The Majora's numerous chambers are cut from food-grade Plexiglas and designed according to a pattern inspired by natural ant nests. Their generous dimensions allow a very large colony to thrive. It is also possible to house a small colony so that it can develop for a long time without having to relocate it to a larger habitat over the years. Two main corridors supply the chambers with worker ants, making optimal use of space while maximizing ant activity.
A mineral layer is molded into the bottom of the chambers for effective humidity management. This provides a natural substrate for the ants and a healthy bacterial balance. The ant farm remains healthy over the long term, and the ants thrive. The stone-based material used is ultra-smooth, absorbent, and durable.
Messor minor sold separately, installed in a Majora Model 2.
Two integrated, escape-proof feeding areas.
In order to feed your ants and observe their behavior outside the chambers, the Majora Ant Farm is equipped with two built-in triangular Feeding Areas.
Their high walls have the advantage of discouraging ants from climbing thanks to a slippery varnish applied as standard to each Majora.
The feeding areas are accessible via a laser-cut, ventilated cover. Each area features a unique, handcrafted design inspired by nature.
An access ramp allows the ants to move from the chambers to the feeding areas to collect food and remove waste.
It is possible to alternate between the two feeding areas, compare the attractiveness of two food sources, clean one while the other remains operational, etc.

Seeking to offer a solution that expands the outdoor environment for ants and facilitates breeding, we have developed external feeding areas called Observation Spaces. These are connected by a tube, and our non-stick treatment is applied under the protection of an elevated frame for absolute effectiveness and a lifetime guarantee.
4 connecting holes for expanded possibilities.
The modular Majora ant farm can be connected to another ant farm once the first is fully colonized, although ants naturally adapt to the available space. Numerous possibilities exist for expanding your setup, such as connecting an Observation Area, without competing with the other connection points. These are located two at the front and two on the sides, using a trapdoor system developed by Fourmiculture.
Made to last.
Each Majora represents a long machining process and concentrates all our experience to ensure its bacteriological balance and durability, while respecting the needs of the ants.
The ant farm is easily disassembled as it is simply bolted together. The chamber flooring is replaceable, allowing you to restore the ant farm to a clean, like-new condition at a fraction of the price.
Its feeding areas are accessible for cleaning and we offer spare parts (lid, chambers, glass) if you wish to restore it to its former glory after a few years.
