Seeds for Messor:
Thanks to an exceptional variety of seeds, this ultra-complete seed mix for Messor comes as close as possible to the diversity that Granivorous Ants find in nature.
We have formulated this 100% organic seed mix with the aim of providing the Messor with all the nutritional richness they need to develop at their best.
In addition, non-organic seeds are not recommended for ants due to insecticide residues and it is impossible to find such rich mixtures on the market.

Simply feed a spoonful or two of seeds to your ants to allow them to build up a stock (or more depending on the size of the colony). A seed reserve in an anthill can be enough for weeks or months and a sachet can replenish several reserves.
You will notice that the ants will store their seeds in a generally low humidity area of the artificial anthill. Then they will chew some seeds for several days. Their saliva makes the seed edible.
Of course, you can offer them different types of solid food to observe their behavior, but don't forget that seeds remain the basic food of the Messor. A seed-based diet is also less messy. You can still try freeze-dried insects, fresh or after 3 days in the freezer against possible parasites. Insects sold by professionals are generally pest-free. They can be given alive but only if their very reasonable size is not a threat for the colony.
