Tetramorium semilaeve may be very small in size, but it knows how to establish itself thanks to rapid development and colonies that can become very populous.

Tetramorium semilaeve is therefore a species worth discovering, also for its unique diet: it enjoys biscuit crumbs, small insects, certain sweet liquids, and even soft seeds opened with a finger or crushed nuts and hazelnuts. It can be a little fussy at first, but there are many possibilities for feeding it. We recommend focusing on insects (fresh mealworms cut in half) to ensure rapid development and prevent food rejection.

Minor worker size: 3mm
Queen size: approximately 7mm
Recommended temperature: 27°C during the day and 22-24°C at night
Overwintering: None, otherwise a short, mild period.
Humidity: Medium
