Premium breeding kit for Atta and Acromyrmex leafcutter ants. Includes 3 glass tanks and specially adapted equipment.

Description

Breeding kit for Atta, Acromyrmex and leafcutter ants:

This expandable starter kit, suitable for all types of leafcutter ants, contains, in addition to the perfectly adapted terrarium, the appropriate equipment for raising this specific type of ant. The 20cm cubes allow for comfortable handling during feeding and cleaning. The large connections (27 mm) and tubes not only allow for easy observation of the ants but also enable the animals to transport large pieces of leaves. The stainless steel mesh inserts ensure good ventilation and are resistant to attacks. Even large, aggressive leafcutter ant colonies are unable to attack them. The robust pipe fittings are also completely mandible-proof. The thermometer and hygrometer display is located inside the system, without disturbing the ants, and allows for easy monitoring of climatic conditions. If necessary, humidity can be increased using the spray bottle.

Our advice: start with a small module (a homemade one is fine: a poorly ventilated plastic box, a plaster base, a saucer placed over the mushroom to create a microclimate, and a stable temperature of 22°C). Once the colony is well established, move it to the rearing kit and enjoy some wonderful observations.

About the product:

  • The anti-escape frame has a few chips from transport (non-cutting, with no impact on functionality or safety)
  • Older version kit with PVC fittings
  • Some slight signs of wear on the pipes or connection areas
  • 1 missing glass lid to order HERE for 14.90 euros.

The kit consists of a tank for raising the colony with the fungus until it reaches several thousand worker ants and a significant volume (20x20cm). Humidity must be maintained at its highest level in this tank. There is also a dry tank for waste disposal or to serve as a second mushroom tank if a waste disposal area is provided, and a feeding tank for depositing leaves, which should have a medium moisture content.
