This 2.7 generation of the Minora Artificial Ant Farm pushes the boundaries of engineering with a unique hybrid design. It harmoniously combines absorbent concrete, laminated glass, and recycled HDPE with magnetic fastening, providing an optimal environment for the development of a young ant colony and perfect observation. This 100% French innovation embodies our commitment to quality and respecting the needs of ants.

Since 2008, we have delivered hundreds of units to enthusiasts and captivated thousands of children in the classroom. This new 2.7 generation retains the previous design but replaces every element to further improve results both at home and in the classroom. Moreover, it is available as a complete kit with free ants for a simple and successful experience.

Magneto Pro 9 connection system.

Enjoy a hassle-free ant-keeping experience where expansion is a breeze: with two secure magnetic connection holes (no risk of moving parts if turned over), you can extend your ants' habitat or add an external feeding area.

The Magneto Pro 9 linking system consists of powerful magnets integrated into the ant farm, and an optional magnetic linking tube made of Plexiglas that is resistant to ant bites.

The Minora 2.7 ant farm is therefore compatible with any new accessory equipped with our Magneto Pro 9 technology. But it is also backward compatible with our older models thanks to a 9 mm silicone tube.

We've redesigned the Minora to offer a superior and lasting observation experience. The ant farm now features durable, secure glass that maintains perfect optical clarity without the accumulation of micro-scratches during cleaning. The advantages of this choice are numerous:

• The glass does not warp: we have eliminated the bulky bolts, thus offering a clean finish and elegant design.
• Safety first: the glass used is strong, thick, and laminated, similar to a car windshield. It is designed to withstand impacts and has smoothed edges, ensuring safe use, even for children.
• A secure hold: thanks to powerful magnets, the glass and lid stay in place, even if accidentally turned over. Your ants will be safe in all circumstances.
• An ecological choice: the glass is made in France and its production is not dependent on petrochemicals.
• Anti-escape film: in case of violent impact, the transparent film integrated into the glass helps to contain ants in extreme situations.

 

Creating this unique piece presented a technical challenge. We successfully cut and polished the glass into the specific shape of our ant nests using new machinery and extensive expertise. This valuable piece is crafted near the lakes of Savoy, close to our workshop, and integrates perfectly into our design.

The best choice for a successful ant farm.

Designed to support the growth of a colony during its first three years, the Minora ant farm offers a flexible and modular solution. It is perfectly suited to large Messor and Camponotus species, with between 20 and 400 workers approximately, but is also suitable for smaller species.

Once the ants have regulated their population, you can connect a second ant farm or any other extension using a magnetic connection. An indestructible magnetic tube is available as an option for a reliable connection. A 9mm silicone tube is also suitable.

A substrate similar to natural porous stone.

The ants' living space is designed to mimic the texture of natural porous stone. We applied a thin layer of our latest innovation, R5 Absorbent Concrete ( see more info ), to the bottom of the chambers. This innovative mixture was specially developed by Fourmiculture in collaboration with materials engineers and has been tested for over a year with excellent results.

Ant growth is optimized and soil durability is improved thanks to the following qualities:

• Microporous for rapid moisture exchange.
• Composed of 100% natural materials, without any artificial additives.
• Visual contrast used to measure humidity, with a darker shade in case of high humidity.
• Natural properties that limit the proliferation of mold.
• Designed and manufactured in Grenoble, ensuring local manufacturing quality.

 

 

A healthy, French, and ecological anthill:

Let's break free from primary petrochemicals! Instead of layers of Plexiglas imported from Germany, cut and assembled one on top of the other, we carve the chambers from an aesthetically pleasing and far more environmentally friendly material. Ideal for ants, neutral, and attractive. We work with the first French company to have developed and patented this process.

To create this material, food-grade bottles and containers are collected in Normandy, shredded, and fused together to form a 2-centimeter-thick sheet. On a white base, shards of colored bottle caps add a unique and vibrant touch to each sheet, which features a unique design with a blended effect. Each ant farm sold helps reduce the incineration and landfilling of plastic waste in nature.

This stable material resists humidity perfectly without excessive warping (a recurring problem with Plexiglas, hence the 11 bolts per older generation Minora ant farm).

 

 

Repairable and durable.

We offer spare parts when needed and a refurbishment service. For this, a thin layer of absorbent concrete is applied (by our socially responsible workshop, or you can do it yourself by purchasing a tub of R5 absorbent concrete ) to the old ant farm after cleaning, restoring it to like-new condition. The glass is scratch-resistant but can also be replaced if necessary.

 

A manufacturer committed to local development.

Instead of shipping materials overseas to save money, we work locally to save fuel! We are manufacturers and use local resources for our ant farm to convey our social, economic and ecological values.

A French factory excavates the chambers, creating a structure inspired by natural anthills to facilitate ant movement and space utilization. This manufacturing technique emits no polluting fumes. As soon as possible, the offcuts are collected and returned to the plastics factory for remelting.

 

With the Minora 2.7 generation Artificial Ant Farm, observing ants becomes a true pleasure thanks to the scratch-resistant safety glass. The absorbent concrete floor, similar to natural porous stone, provides an ideal environment for colony growth. Furthermore, the ant farm is manufactured in Grenoble in a socially responsible workshop, supporting the local economy and using high-quality materials.

We offer a 30-day trial period from the date of receipt on all Minora models. If you are not satisfied, you can exercise your extended right of withdrawal. Only one customer has done so since 2008, but if you are the next, you are welcome to do so.
