New generation Minora Artificial Anthill: a gem of innovation for observing ants.

The new 2.7 generation of the Minora Artificial Anthill pushes the limits of engineering and design with a unique hybrid design. It harmoniously combines absorbent concrete, laminated glass and transparent Plexiglas with magnetic fixation, thus providing an optimal environment for the development of a young ant colony.

The one-piece machining of the transparent material allows for a crystal-clear finish while the secure, scratch-resistant glass allows for exceptional observations. This French innovation embodies our commitment to excellence and respect for the needs of ants.

Since 2008, we have delivered hundreds of copies to enthusiasts and captivated thousands of children in the classroom. This new generation 2.7 retains the previous design but replaces each element in order to further improve the results obtained both at home and in the classroom. In addition, it is available as a complete kit with free ants for a simple and successful experience.

Magneto Pro 9 Linkage System.

Enjoy a worry-free ant-rearing experience where expansion is a snap: With two secure magnetic linking holes (no risk of moving parts in the event of a rollover), you can expand the habitat of your ants or add an external feeding area.

The Magneto Pro 9 linking system consists of powerful magnets integrated into the anthill, and an ant-bite resistant Plexiglas magnetic linking tube (optional).

The Minora 2.7 ant nest is thus compatible with any new accessory equipped with our Magneto Pro 9 technology. But it is also backwards compatible with our older models thanks to a 9 mm silicone hose.

We've re-engineered the Minora to deliver a superior, long-lasting viewing experience. The Anthill now features tough, secure glass that maintains perfect optical clarity, with no micro-scratch build-up when cleaning. The advantages of this choice are numerous:

• The glass does not warp: we have eliminated bulky bolts, providing a clean finish and elegant design.
• Safety first: the glass used is strong, thick and laminated, similar to a car windshield. It is designed to be impact resistant and features soft edges, ensuring safe use even for children.
• Strong fixation: thanks to powerful magnets, the glass and cover remain in place, even in the event of an accidental rollover. Your ants will be preserved in all circumstances.
• An ecological choice: the glass is made in France and its production is not dependent on petrochemicals.
• Anti-escape film: in the event of a violent impact, the transparent film integrated into the glass helps to contain ants in extreme situations.

 

The realization of this unique piece represented a technical challenge. We have succeeded in cutting and polishing the glass to the specific shape of our anthills thanks to new machines and in-depth expertise. This piece, of great value, is made on the shores of the Savoy lakes, near our workshop, and fits perfectly into our creation.

The best choice for a successful anthill.

Designed to support the growth of a colony during its first three years, the Minora anthill offers a flexible and modular solution. It is ideal for large Messor and Camponotus species, with between 20 and around 400 workers, but is also suitable for small species.

Once the ants regulate their population, you have the possibility of connecting a second anthill or any other extension thanks to a magnetic connection. An indestructible magnetic hose is available as an option for reliable bonding. A 9mm silicone hose is also suitable.

A support similar to natural porous stone.

The ant life support is designed to mimic the texture of natural porous stone. We applied a thin layer of our latest innovation, Absorbent Concrete R5 ( see more info ), to the bottom of the chambers. This innovative mixture has been specially developed by Fourmiculture in collaboration with material engineers, and has been tested for over a year with excellent results.

The growth of ants is optimized and the durability of the soil is improved thanks to the following qualities:

• Microporous for rapid hygrometric exchange.
• Composed of 100% natural materials, without any artificial additives.
• Visual contrast to measure humidity, with a darker tint in high humidity.
• Natural properties limiting the proliferation of mould.
• Design and manufacture in Grenoble, ensuring local manufacturing quality.

 

 

Healthy, Franco-European and sustainable anthill:

Instead of layers of Plexiglas cut and assembled on top of each other held by numerous bolts, we hollow out the chambers in a single block of transparent Plexiglas. Food grade, cleanly machined and smoke-free, it is ideal for ants and ensures a luxurious aesthetic. The elements to be embedded such as the glass and the connectors are machined directly inside the block. Plexiglas does not contain phthalates, bisphenol or other VOCs.

In a sleek way, 4 magnets hold the glass and the cover in place, whether the anthill is right side up or upside down.

Some machining traces may remain visible on the transparent surface of the Plexiglas without altering its qualities, a sign of mechanical machining in a very hard material.

Repairable and durable.

We offer spare parts if needed and a refurbishment service. For this, a thin layer of absorbent concrete is applied (by our socially responsible workshop, or by yourself by buying a pot of R5 absorbent concrete ) on the old one after cleaning and allows you to find an anthill like new. The glass does not take scratches but can also be replaced if necessary.

 

A locally engaged manufacturer.

We are a manufacturer and use the best resources available on a European scale to produce an exceptional product. The Model 6 anthill fits into the following map:

• Manufacture of the box: Agglomeration of Grenoble from French and European cardboard.
• Manufacturing of the Plexiglas base: Germany then machining in Latvia.
• Glass manufacturing: Northern France and machining in Savoie
• Manufacture of Absorbent Concrete: Grenoble
• Manufacturing of magnetic connectors: Poland and France from materials originating in the EU and CN.
• Final assembly in Grenoble.

A French factory hollows out the rooms and forms a set inspired by natural anthills to facilitate the movement of ants and the use of space. This manufacturing technique does not emit any polluting smoke.

 

With the Artificial Anthill Minora of generation 2.7, the observation of ants becomes a real pleasure thanks to the anti-scratch safety glass. The absorbent concrete floor, similar to natural porous stone, provides an ideal environment for colony growth.
