Our breeding tube is the best way to start an ant colony, as ants need a limited space to begin building their colony. This tube, made in France, contains no pollutants and uses bio-foam (PVA-free) covered with a non-toxic mineral slab to diffuse the moisture from the water reservoir. It recreates healthy living conditions, improving the ants' comfort and development. Its water supply lasts for several months, preventing forgetfulness and the accidental loss of the colony. After several months of water autonomy, it can be refilled using our special syringe, sold separately, by sealing the small hole with crystal tape (official brand, essential for its quality and to ensure a watertight seal).
Important: Before first use, fill the water reservoir using the syringe provided, dry the tube, and seal the hole with brand-name crystal tape.
- French-made glass hunting area
The foraging area connected to the tube allows the ants to venture out, explore, and search for food. It is ventilated by a stainless steel grid to prevent excess humidity and provides the ants with a more natural environment, similar to being outdoors. The machined, recessed acrylic lid prevents any accidental escapes. A mold- and mite-resistant mineral substrate serves as a natural support. A seal secures the rearing tube, allowing the ants to move around safely. If handling becomes difficult due to the presence of worker ants, an anti-escape product (mineral oil) is provided and applied to the top of the walls for its natural repellent effect.

It is placed under the tube, monitored by a thermometer, to heat the colony and improve its development. Ideally, the temperature should be 27°C during the day and 18-24°C at night. Caution: if used improperly, it can reach excessive temperatures for your ants. To avoid exceeding 30°C, use the provided thermometer and aluminum foil for insulation if necessary, or move the tube slightly further away. In winter, place the colony between 8 and 15°C for two months for its winter dormancy.
