Island Concept fungus module wears this name because it must be placed in 3cm of water, thus ensuring absolute security against evasions. As a major feature, the absorbent concrete foot (the formula of which has been developed and tested by Fourmiculture since 2023) provides stable , reliable and durable humidity to the leaf-cutting ants, in order to respect their very specific needs.

In addition, ants have the natural reflex to throw their waste into the water and do not like to accumulate it near the nest: no need to lose space and money in a module for waste. Your ants are protected from mites, molds and nuisances caused by waste. Just change the water every week or install a pump and a filter.

Tips for installing your leaf cutting ants breeding:

• 1️⃣ In order to ensure the success of your breeding of your Attack or Acromyrmex, it is strongly recommended to place the module inside a closed "bell", in an aquarium filled with 3 to 4cm of water, or a waterproof tank itself placed inside a plastic box or closed showcase. The confined environment makes it possible to maintain a high general humidity level, and creates a microclimate adapted to your Attat and Acromyrmex.

 

• 2️⃣ Heat around 23-25 ​​° C stable in the inside of the bell or device, without day/night variation, in order to protect ants from temperature changes, fog, mold and numerous nuisances of conventional farm modules. Preferably heat from above and possibly with ventilation, do not heat the water or the underside or the inside of the mushroom. Example: heated cord or heated carpet fixed under the aquarium hood.

 

• 3️⃣ In order to respect the needs of the ants, it is very strongly recommended to bring them extra-fine sphagnum peat in advance, wrung, and arranged at the bottom of the module on approximately 3-4cm. Ants will thus be able to build a protective structure on the fungus and temporarily hide, arrange or close the vents according to their real needs, etc. The excess peat will be gradually evacuated and thrown into the water by ants. Our concept offers your ants very close to their natural ideal, but they are the only ones to know how to modulate their environment exactly. To do this, offer them good tools and relax in front of their work.

 

• 4️⃣ If the colony is very small, you can place a small amount of fresh pink leaves and petals directly near the fungus, otherwise on the mushroom cover, then on the square platform. Quickly, a feeding module should be added by simply posing the new platform platform module.

 

• 5️⃣ Regularly, clean the water because the ants throw their waste and the substrate inside. You can take the modules by the platform (not by the cylinder) and place them in a temporary tank, time to empty the water and change it. For optimal installation, it is advisable to add an aquarium type pump and filtration.
