The Four Messor pack with 4 Ant colonies:

For guaranteed passion, Fourmiculture has created this superior version of the Perfect Ant Cultivator Pack with innovative equipment and 4 very special ant colonies:

1/ Messor minor, selected for its black and burgundy color, its fastest development and its sustained activity even in winter,

2/ Messor barbarus for its large size and its massive workers with a reddish head,

3/ Messor capitatus, entirely black and a little bigger than its neighbours,

4/ Messor wasmanni, a Corsican species similar to Messor minor.

These 4 colonies, each with a queen, are already installed in the Quadricity Artificial Anthill and are able to live in almost total autonomy because they feed on seeds that they store for several weeks. The autonomy in humidity is about 1 month.

Each colony is therefore installed in a quarter of the anthill, specially designed to accommodate several colonies in peace and without contact with each other. It is thus possible to take advantage of 4 times more observations and follow the differences between each colony, much better than any curious person could do in nature.

The care to be provided is perfectly simple: keep the water reservoirs full and put seeds back, and monitor the temperature.

The 4 species have almost identical needs and the food is to be distributed through the lid in the center, or using the 4 optional Feeding Modules or another external feeding area.

If breeding is absolutely simple, it is all the more fascinating: The presence of 4 queens and the choice of quality material allows you to benefit from rich and fascinating observations over the long term through the crystal-clear Plexiglas® window.

For example: the care given to the larvae, the management of food, the behavior of the queen, the reactions of the workers to the environment, etc. Everything is in place to facilitate the development of the colony over the years, and therefore multiply the observations to be made.

1. The Quadricity Artificial Anthill:

Your “Culture” will develop wonderfully in the Quadricity 3rd Generation artificial anthill, carefully designed and manufactured by Fourmiculture to respect the natural needs of ants and recreate a balance similar to that they find in nature, without the problems of mold and parasites.

This model is the most advanced ever created and is made up of 4 “chamber” parts to enlarge the space available to the ants or to raise several species, and presents our patented capillarity humidification system with autonomy of more than a month for provide perfect conditions.

2. Four colonies of Messor ants:

With 1 queen each, eggs and generally between ten and twenty workers, the colonies will be available for your observations upon receipt.

We took care of it for several months in our approved breeding of the veterinary services, since the birth of the first workers, until the day of the expedition.

Now it's up to you to take over with this fine selection!

3. Ceramic heating bulb

For optimal development and sustained activity, a temperature of 27°C is recommended during the day.

A 50w ceramic bulb which heats up without lighting is provided in the Pack and adapts to any flexible lamp with E27 base supporting this power.

It will suffice to gradually bring the lamp closer to the anthill until the desired temperature is obtained by following the instructions for use, for barely more than one euro of electricity per month.
The bulb eliminates condensation and preserves observations. It brings the heat that the ants need, without lighting them so as not to stress them.

4. Electronic thermometer
For accurate temperature measurement.

5. Myrmecology magnifying glass

To not miss any details of your colony and dive into their world with, communication between workers, the evolution of eggs, etc.

6. Food:

The ants will feed mainly on seeds for Messor and you will find a sachet in your pack, sufficient for the first months. Your ants will be interested in a few solid foods such as meat, insects, ant pellets etc. But the staple food must remain seeds.

This makes Messor a particularly easy species to feed.

7. The Perfect Ant Farmer's Guide.

With its ten pages, it is both a breeding guide, a booklet on the way of life of ants and an FAQ to answer your questions such as "How does the colony evolve in the long term?" What is brood? What can I observe in particular? What is the distribution of tasks? " Etc.

8. 3-month success insurance on ants:

The delivery of healthy ants is guaranteed by carrier within 48 hours.

Then, our expert equipment ensures very easy success and everything is done to help you succeed in your “culture”, for the respect of the ants and your pleasure.

2. “Power supply” module:

This module bolts to the Quadricity anthill and provides an outdoor environment for ants for freer exploration. Designed as a panoramic terrarium in thermoformed Plexiglas®, it allows you to feed them easily and ensures captivating observations, particularly when they descend along a transparent “stairwell” designed to help them get from the top of the module up to the floor of the Feeding Area with ease.

Once on the ground, the ants will be able to explore a vegetal decoration made by hand and each time different to welcome them. High walls can prevent ants from climbing in and out thanks to a possible film of talc. We have nevertheless provided a transparent cover to ensure total safety. Its laser-cut micro-grids renew the air and allow ants to feel like they are outdoors.

Advice from Fourmiculture: for a more practical installation, we recommend adding an external feeding area, which is more efficient than the mini-feeding area integrated into the Quadricity. It could be a Small Feeding Module or an Observation Space.

3. Module “Housing.

Are your ants thriving? This module bolts around the Quadricity and allows them to continue their evolution. It features the same patented bonding and humidification system as the Quadricity, providing more space and more spacious chambers (ideal for large colonies of small to large species).

It is a real small artificial anthill which can also be used separately. All the Ant-farming technology is there: 2 zones to be humidified to choose from, rooms with adaptable height, connection system by partitions...

Advice from Fourmiculture: The Housing Modules are however not an obligation because the ants regulate the laying according to the space available, the temperature and the food.

4. The perfect duo:

The Observation Space is a more advanced concept. This is a spacious feeding area to be placed next to it, or even in another room using a long hose. Convenient for observations, ideal for feeding and cleaning your colony because fully accessible, its frame with non-stick treatment guaranteed for life prevents worker escapes 100%, without ever worrying about maintenance and any lid is unnecessary. An interchangeable artist decor is handmade with natural materials.

5. Climatic station.

After humidification, temperature is the second essential point for the well-being of ants and the success of your breeding.

The Quadricity has 4 slots to embed the probes of our electronic thermometers as close as possible to where they live for a precise measurement. We then designed a control station: the Climatic station (photo on the right).

It has 4 locations for electronic thermometers whose wires can be hidden under the Quadricity, then come out discreetly on the bedroom side and fit into the holes provided. All that will be missing is a small label on the wires to mark each probe with “A”, “B”, “C”, or “D”. The corresponding temperature will be displayed on the Climatic station panel!

Advice from Ant Farming: 1 thermometer is provided in your Pack. The Climatic Station will make it possible to present it vertically in a practical and readable way. 1 thermometer is enough to monitor 1 chamber area and 1 colony. Several thermometers make it possible to monitor several points of the anthill, particularly interesting when breeding several species at the same time.

The Fourmiculture heating lamp will then be the preferred way to offer the best temperature conditions to your ants thanks to its ceramic bulb which heats up without lighting and can last nearly 10 years. It will be enough to manage the distance from the rooms to find the optimal temperature of 27°C.

6. A Hyperfilter to protect your ants:

Ants live comfortably in ambient light. However, in case of strong light or during your working day, you can choose to put your ants in darker conditions thanks to an innovative optical filter.

Made of Fluorescent Plexiglas®, the Hyperfilter absorbs light and transmits part of it by fluorescence effect through the edge. The remaining light that passes through the filter is barely visible to ants who cannot distinguish red and feel protected. It applies to the Quadricity or its Housing modules.

Hyperfilter is a futuristic creation that will suit your Anthill perfectly.

Advice from Fourmiculture: Ants should never be exposed to the sun, and ambient light is fine. A Hyperfilter is recommended so that your ants feel perfectly protected if the brightness of the room is relatively high.

7. Aquaglyph Reservoir:

In the pack, transparent reservoirs are provided and are placed under the anthill so that the humidity is guided to the chambers by capillarity.

As a replacement, you can choose a tray specially designed to adapt to your anthill, serve as a support and feed the 8 wicks. Made in France by the most innovative methods, it provides an aesthetic and practical gain.

Eco-designed and Repairable.

Your Quadricity Anthill is eco-designed to last longer than any other. We put all our heart into it during its design and manufacture in quality materials, machined according to the rules of the art.

Made with 39% more bioplastic, no parts are stuck. The entire ant farm is simply bolted down for easy wet cleaning, replacement of parts or future upgrades.

Its satin white Plexiglas core is almost unalterable and the glass is replaceable, while the mineral humidifier comprising the floor of the rooms is thought of as a consumable. Easy to unbolt and replace, it allows you to find clean rooms as on the first day and an almost new anthill for a fraction of its purchase price.

The Quadricity is manufactured in our workshop located in the Alps. It does not include any part or even raw material whose origin is not European.

 

An ecological gesture that brings in 30€:

Because a high quality product will always have value, we offer you 20€ if you wish to return your anthill to us after use. It will be repaired and improved then sold second-hand, donated or reused in order to preserve the resources necessary for its manufacture.

In addition, the packaging has also been thought out contrary to consumer habits. If we receive it in good condition, we will give you a 10€ voucher!
