Description
Living plant for hunting areas and dry terrariums. Slow growth, decorative effect and life without soil make it an ideal ally for your anthill.
Tillandsia native to Mexico and Costa Rica. Its evocative name describes well the impression one has when looking at it. Note that its red inflorescences are often shorter than its magnificent silvery leaves.
A clump of Tillandsia caput-medusae a few years old can reach 50 cm in diameter!
Attention, its size at the time of sale already reserves it for the largest terrariums and hunting areas.
Sold without support.
Time and origin info:
We get our supplies from a greenhouse renowned for its Tillandsia and carnivorous plants in Alsace. Through our partnership, we obtain a selection of the most beautiful Tillandsia adapted to life with ants. We take care of the plants between each shipment and drop off the plants ordered at our logistics center approximately once a week.
The estimated delivery time is therefore usually 48 hours (transport) + 1 week (deposit of plants at the logistics center), sometimes 48 hours (transport) + 2 weeks (supply to the greenhouse + deposit at the logistics center). Depending on the arrivals, we may sometimes deliver a slightly different variety. Thank you for your patience to get the most beautiful plants 🙂
Maintenance tips :
- Watering
Every week, immerse the plant for a few minutes in mineral-poor rain or bottle water. Spray with water or immerse the plant up to 2x per day in case of very dry air and high heat. Drain the plant and protect it from excessively humid air and standing water. Remove dry and damaged leaves. For better growth, it is advisable to add fertilizer for orchids diluted to three quarters about 2x per month.
- Temperature
Likes temperatures of 10 to 30°C. Can go outdoors in partial shade.
- Brightness
Avoid direct sun in summer. Prefer a well-lit place (be careful not to expose the ants to the sun at the same time).
