The Ants in the Classroom educational sheet is an ebook with 10 educational sessions.

Fourmiculture offers you this booklet with the aim of helping teachers to take advantage of their anthill from a pedagogical point of view: what are the scientific notions that can be approached with the pupils, around the theme of ants? Anatomy of the ant, organization of the anthill, diet, life cycle… are all discoveries that can be made in a simple way.

To complete the Ants Pedagogical Sheet, we suggest the book “ Les Ants ” from the “La Grande Imagerie Animale” collection published by Fleurus. They will bring you additional information and illustrations. In addition, observations can also be made on sunny days on a natural anthill (one is almost always found in schoolyards).

Example of session 1: "a swarm of ideas"
Material: the Minora Artificial Anthill from the Educational Pack , enough to produce a poster (minimum A3 sheet and markers).
Announce that the class is going to work on ants. Ask the question: " What do we think we know about ants?" What do we want to learn about them? » Draw two columns on a poster to write the class proposals ….. The rest of our advice can be found in the electronic booklet!

Sample Lesson 5: What do ants eat?
After asking the students to give their ideas about the different foods eaten by ants, the teacher invites them to choose several of them in order to test them. Photos and precise advice included in the guide.
