Crematogaster rudis originates from French Guiana. Active year-round, it develops very quickly and helps to form beautiful, active, and visually appealing colonies. A voracious eater, it enjoys both solid foods (meat, ham, insects) and liquids (nectar, honeydew, etc.). With proper care, it diligently maintains its colony, exhibiting high activity and rapid growth.

A moderate humidity level is preferred and it rises well in any type of well-designed escape-proof nest.

Rather black in color (whitish for newly born workers), it includes one or more 6mm queens (polygynous species) and the workers measure 3-4mm.

This species can be raised in a way quite similar to our Pheidole pallidula and has the advantage of very rapid development, without overwintering, and good adaptability in terms of food.
