Description

Aeacus nests are the result of an intensive four-year design process based on input from a wide range of experienced breeders. A nest should be easy to use and require minimal maintenance.

One of the main features of these nests is the hydration system. The water tank can last up to a month and is translucent to allow quick water level inspection. The water is carried to one or more ceramic tiles screwed securely to the base of the nest with stainless steel screws, where a hole allows the ants to drink and the air in the nest is humidified. In medium and large size nests, these ceramic tiles can be replaced by non-absorbent plastic tiles, which allows the humidity level to be adjusted according to the species of ants they contain.

A white plastic cover is included with all models. It is designed to be slightly translucent, protecting a colony from direct sunlight while allowing it to habituate to low light. This decreases the stress associated with lifting the lid and allows colonies to be observed more regularly.

Each nest design is individually sculpted to create a detailed, naturalistic structure for ants to store their brood. Not only does this provide clear viewing angles, but it increases internal surface area, which makes Aeacus nests more compact and can hold more ants than other similarly sized nests.

The sculpted nesting tunnels and light color are meant to provide a pleasant neutral base to showcase your colony. The reflective properties of pale colors also mean that Aeacus nests are ideal for macro photography.

Dimensions: 9x9cm (the optimization of the living space makes it possible to accommodate a particularly large population, of several hundred workers of average size.
