Description

Aeacus nests are the result of an intensive four-year design process based on input from a wide range of experienced breeders. A nest must be easy to use and require minimal maintenance.

One of the key features of these nests is their hydration system. The water reservoir can last up to a month and is translucent to allow for quick inspection of the water level. Water is transported to one or more ceramic tiles securely screwed to the base of the nest with stainless steel screws. A hole in the tiles allows the ants to drink and humidifies the air inside the nest. In medium and large nests, these ceramic tiles can be replaced with non-absorbent plastic tiles, allowing the humidity level to be adjusted according to the ant species housed within.

A white plastic cover is included with all models. It is designed to be slightly translucent, protecting a colony from direct sunlight while allowing it to acclimate to low light. This reduces the stress associated with lifting the cover and allows for more frequent observation of the colonies.

Each nest design is individually sculpted to create a detailed, naturalistic structure for the ants to house their brood. This not only provides clear viewing angles but also increases the internal surface area, making Aeacus nests more compact and able to hold more ants than other nests of similar size.

The sculpted nesting tunnels and light color are designed to provide a neutral and pleasing base for showcasing your colony. The reflective properties of the pale colors also mean that Aeacus nests are ideal for macro photography.
