Description

Beautiful carnivorous plant terrarium kit with LED lighting, 2 carnivorous plants and moss.

This very aesthetic terrarium is a creation to be assembled at home on the basis of the elements provided. It allows to realize a closed terrarium ready to admire with a minimum of maintenance, little evaporation and a better success compared to a culture in pot. It is based on a 15cm jar with cork stopper and integrated LED lighting (batteries included).

You will find ball moss, a carnivorous Venus flytrap of rare variety with its traps (tiger tooth, Giant, Dracula or other according to inspiration and availability), a carnivorous Drosera capensis (with leaves with eyelashes covered with glue catching insects to digest it), special potting soil for carnivorous plants and decorative elements. Customization of plants and varieties on request.

Warning: water only with rain or demineralized water (unscented).

More detail on carnivorous plants:

These fascinating plants live in an environment very poor in nutrients (peat bogs) and can only get their energy from the sun, and sometimes, from an insect caught in a trap that closes at lightning speed in Dionaea, in the form of ultra-sensitive jaw. In Drosera, it is a leaf in the shape of a sticky tentacle that attracts insects and traps them to digest them on the spot… The terrarium allows you to observe these fascinating plants! There is no point, however, in voluntarily giving away excess insects, an occasional meal is more than enough… Venus fly traps can be used about 3 times before dying and needing to be replaced. The plants have a reduced form in winter.

Composition of the terrarium kit:

• Glass jar – cork stopper with integrated LED lighting. Diameter: 15cm, Height: 15cm 12.59
• Main plant: Drosera capensis
• Secondary plant: Dionaea muscipula
• moss ball
• Decoration: white sand
• Substrate to be laid in the following order: 1 layer of drainage (large pebbles, clay or pozzolan), 1 layer of special peat for carnivorous plants (supplied) with a border of sand to be placed between two layers of peat.

Manual :

• Collect rainwater or buy unscented demineralised water from a drugstore or supermarket.
• Refine the soil by kneading it to break up the clods. Moisten the soil in a basin while mixing.
• Place a drainage layer at the bottom of the terrarium.
• Cover with 2/3 of potting soil drained and pressed to remove excess water.
• Give the soil a wave shape, remove the marks on the glass, pack it down and place a few millimeters of white sand around the edge. Cover with a new layer of potting soil.
• Form a hole. Place the plants to your liking, avoiding that the leaves touch the walls.
• Cover with ball moss.
• Keep the substrate always well moist. Place your plants in strong light, but not in direct sunlight (risk of greenhouse effect). A temperature of 20-25°C is fine.
• In winter, place the plants in a cool place, between 5 and 12°C approximately. Open the lid a crack to prevent condensation.
